(My Diet)
As I have started my journey , I have made some changes in my life , one of them is that about 2 1/2 months ago I became a vegetarian , I don't any sort of meat ( white or red ) but I do eat fish .
It hasn't been the easiest transition as I am a Nigerian we eat meat with every single meal and I am not joking we love meat.
I felt like I need to get control of my diet , I know being vegetarian isn't really a diet but the thing is I constantly crave sweets , but know I can eat them because most of them have gelatine in it , which is made out of animals. Another thing I love is fast food but I can’t eat fast food because it is all meat and the only fast food restaurant that has fish is McDonald's and it is the fish'o'filet which I really dislike so it is a no go for me . So instead when I go out I will have a sandwich from cafe giardino and if there is no food but fast food I will have chips and a garden salad from Mcd's.
The thing that made me change my diet was a book called skinny b***h it is written by Roary Freedman & Kim Barnoiun " a no-nonsense tough love guide for savvy girls who want to stop eating crap and look fabulous! " The book basically tells you the truth about food such as meat, dairy products, fast food, fizzy drinks and sugar. It tells you what you’re eating and what it actually is doing to your body. I would really advice everyone to borrow this book from the library or buy this book even if you don't want to change your diet it is just a really interesting book that makes you think before your eat .
When I started my journey I decide to start on my diet as it was very drastic and I think I really need to do something that would take real effect and it was my diet. The most difficult parts about being a vegetarian is that some people are not able to accept that you are a vegetarian, but don't let that stop you trying to achieve it because that is one of the paths you have chosen and if they are not able to except it, it is better of that you aren't friends with them. Like my best friend tina understood that she didn't act all crazy and even when people offer me a meat and I will say that I am a vegetarian and she would say I know she is crazy right to kind of make the conversation die down which appreciate so much and I am so grateful for that . Another thing is that as I am a student , I eat in school and there is very little choice of what to eat jacket potatoes , cheese Panini’s and even when they do make vegetarian meals it doesn't look very appetizing , so I end up having the same thing five days a week :/ . But I just deal with it (:
In my opinion when starting a journey make it very distract or otherwise you’re are possibly not going to be able to stick with it and don’t delay it as you will keep on saying " I will do it next week or I will do it slowly " and make everyone informed of what you are trying to achieve so your family & friends can help you through it.
